Apple Music created Behind the Songs – a new area within Apple Music that introduces songwriters, producers, session musicians and their work.
The new portal will highlight these developers based on Apple Music’s top playlist brands, including Songbook and Behind the Boards
Also, songwriters and publishers can participate in regularly updated editorial features and promotions with Apple Music and its subscribers.
Going forward, this new common space for songwriters, producers, and publishers will also feature original Apple Music content, including Lyrics To Live By and Song Stories.
Behind the Songs is fully searchable in Apple Music and will appear for any subscriber who searches for the words “songwriter or songwriter” combined with text search, text sharing, and time-synced lyrics.
Behind the songs is Apple Music’s partnership with The Ivors Academy, the body that represents British and Irish songwriters and composers and hosts the Ivors Awards every year.
Back in October 2019, the Ivors Academy signed a three-year contract with Apple Music to “create greater awareness of the organization, its activities and its incredibly talented members inside and outside the UK”.
The platform will showcase the nominees for the brand new Rising Star Award with Apple Music (which will be unveiled on July 27, 2021).
Elsewhere, the Apple Music radio show Deep Hidden Meaning, hosted by Nile Rodgers, is exclusively devoted to songwriters and their stories, which feature songwriters interviewed each month.
“Most importantly, Apple Music has continued to invest heavily in the songwriting community and its various components, and Behind the Songs is a new place that we can call home.”
