Marisa Lauro-Norris, fifteen year veteran of Def Jam Recordings/ UMG, was promoted to Senior Vice President, International Marketing.
The news was announced today (Feb.12) by Jeff Harleston, Interim CEO of Def Jam Recordings, a division of Universal Music Group (UMG).
In her new role, Lauro-Norris will lead all international marketing activities at Def Jam label.
She lives in New York and reports directly to Harleston.
Marisa Lauro-Norris began her career in 2004 with an internship. In the years that followed, she worked her way up the ladder and achieved success with The Killers, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes and many others.
In 2014, Marisa was promoted to Vice President with the new role of overseeing international marketing for the Def Jam label.
During this time she was responsible for directing successful international campaigns for the label, including breakout hits by Alessia Cara & Logic as well as Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
As SVP for international marketing for Def Jam recordings, Marisa Lauro-Norris has for the past year and a half spearheaded and overseen what the label calls a “remarkable global effort” around Justin Bieber.
Bieber’s Changes album kicked off last February with a London fan event where Bieber performed an acoustic set and fan Q&A.
Changes were introduced at # 1 in the UK and Canada and # 1 on Apple Music and iTunes in 85 countries. The album currently has a worldwide consumption of 4.5 million.
Bieber’s follow-up singles Holy and Anyone have also had significant hits on airplay and streaming charts around the world, particularly in the UK and Canada. Over 70% of Bieber’s streams are outside of the United States.
His four singles at the end of 2020 have amassed over 2 billion global streams in just four months.
