The Real Word: What Does Zillow’s ShowingTime Acquisition Mean For Agents?

Byron Lazine and Nicole White are two Connecticut agents who share their thoughts on the week’s news every Friday in The Real Word, a weekly video column about Inman.

As Zillow announced on Wednesday, it took a big step with the acquisition of ShowingTime for $ 500 million. But what does that mean for agents? Byron and Nicole responded to the news this week, sharing their thoughts on some of the agents’ top concerns, questions, and speculations.

“I think this is their biggest move so far – their biggest acquisition move,” said Byron. “While it’s not the biggest acquisition in terms of price, I think it’s the most impactful they’ve made to date.”

More this week: Grant Cardone partners with eXp Realty. The question is: what role will he play? Inman recently reported that Cardone’s role at eXp is still unclear, but that “he recently promised to add ‘Nitro’ to the broker’s already successful strategy.”

Is that a bat? Byron and Nicole believe it. “I still have so many questions,” said Nicole.

Marketer of the Week

This week’s spotlight goes to The Weeknd, who paid $ 7 million (of his personal money) for his half-time performance in the Super Bowl. Listen to this week’s episode to see what this has to do with your real estate business and what brokers can learn from it.
