Amazon Credit Cards: What Options Are Available To You and Which Are Right For You?

If you’ve found those ubiquitous “smiling” cardboard boxes piling up on your doorstep after rounds of online shopping, you may have considered an Amazon credit card.

Topping up your purchases with an Amazon credit card can be a worthwhile decision if you shop on Amazon frequently. But just like Amazon has a dizzying selection on its website, the retailer also offers many credit card options.

Here’s everything you need to know about the five different Amazon credit cards, which span personal and business credit card options, and how to choose which one is right for you.

Amazon Store Credit Card

This is the most basic of the Amazon credit card offerings issued by Synchrony Bank. Known as a closed-loop card, this card can only be used for purchases on Amazon.

There are two different versions of this card, depending on your Amazon membership:

  • Non-Prime Members: You will not receive any Amazon rewards with this card, but you will be entitled to special financing options instead. Sometimes you are offered equal monthly payment funding of 0% APR, and sometimes you are given one deferred interest rate options.

  • Main Members: Choose whether you want to get 5% back on your Amazon purchase or choose special financing. The rewards you earn apply only to Amazon purchases. You can redeem them for credit on the card either when purchasing or after purchasing. You will also receive exclusive Prime Card offers to receive additional rewards for rotating products and categories.

Both cards have no annual fee, but the latter requires a $ 119 Prime membership to qualify. Both cards also come with an Amazon gift card upon approval: currently non-Prime members receive $ 10 and Prime members receive $ 60.

Nerd tip: Closed loop business cards can only be used in this store or in a group of related stores. Open-loop business cards can be used anywhere that the credit card network (such as Visa, Mastercard or AmEx) is accepted.

Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card

Another option for Amazon buyers who are not Prime members is the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card.

This card gives you a 3% discount on purchases from Amazon and Whole Foods. Since it is an open Visa credit card, it can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

Unlike some other co-branded credit cards, it gets solid rewards in a few other categories of daily spending too: 2% off restaurants, gas stations, and drug stores, and 1% off all other purchases.

Upon approval, new cardholders will receive an Amazon gift card welcome bonus currently valued at $ 50.

As Amazon Rewards Visa Signature CardIn restaurants, petrol stations and drugstores it receives 2% back and 1% for all other purchases. But it also brings back an awesome 5% on all Amazon and Whole Foods purchases. When you spend $ 10,000 a year on Amazon and Whole Foods together, you get $ 500 in rewards with those purchases.

New cardholders will receive a $ 70 Amazon Gift Card upon approval. They also receive up to 20% discount on changing Amazon categories and products.

Nerd tip: The Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card and the Visa Signature Card from Amazon Prime Rewards are both exhibited by Chase. To be approved for a Chase credit card, you must have less than five approvals for credit cards over 24 months.
