Bitmain’s new Ether ASIC mining rig may not be able to fix the GPU deficiency after all
Manufacturer of cryptocurrency mining rigs Bitmain announced the upcoming release of a new ether (ETH) Miner on Friday. The Antminer E9 model is an application-specific integrated circuit chip that runs on the blockchain’s Ethash algorithm.
An official release date has not yet been announced for the E9. However, the arrival of the machine may not be as effective as initially thought. The rig faces competition in the form of Nvidia’s CMP series (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor), which was specially developed for crypto mining.
