Paul Simon sells the song catalog to Sony Music Publishing

It has been a few months since legendary singer / songwriters sold their publishing rights. Today one of the greatest of all time announced that it has also sold: Paul Simon’s song catalog has been acquired by Sony Music Publishing.

Sony said the deal includes the “complete collection” of Simon’s classic songs spanning more than six decades, from his time as a member of Simon & Garfunkel to his career as a solo artist.

Songs acquired include evergreen hits like The Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, The Boxer, Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound, I’m a Rock, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Still Crazy After all these years Graceland and many others.

Sony has not disclosed the price of this deal, but it seems inevitable that it will be a nine-figure sum.

The announcement comes almost four months after Bob Dylan sold his $ 300-400 million song catalog to Sony rival Universal Music Publishing, and three months after Neil Young sold half of his song catalog for around $ 150 had sold to the Hipgnosis Songs Fund m.
