How to support the Asian American community during this wave of hate crimes

Eight people were fatally shot and killed in Asian spas in the Atlanta area last night. Six were Asians. And since last March, there have been nearly 3,800 reports of hate incidents against Asian-American citizens in the United States, according to Stop AAPI Hate. “Once again we see hatred kills,” tweeted Georgia Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock.

We hold the families of the victims in our hearts today and stand by the Asian-American community. “No words can fully describe how I feel as an Asian American. We are more than exhausted, heartbroken and angry, ”writes Kim Saira on Instagram. Claire Tran added on Twitter: “With what is happening in Atlanta, I just want to send love to everyone who – like me and many friends – grew up in our parents’ nail salon or restaurant or are nervously waiting for them to come home Night shift in a supermarket. The worry never goes away. “

If you can, please join us in donating to the AAPI Community Fund. We will raise reader donations up to $ 5,000 – All you have to do is make a donation to an organization that supports AAPI cause and forward your receipt with the subject “Donation” to hello@cupofjo.com.

Also, follow Stop AAPI Hate, the Asian American Federation, and Advancing Justice Atlanta on Instagram to get involved.

Thank you very much. We support our Asian-American readers and the wider Asian-American community today and forever. Please share more ideas on how you can help in the comments below. xoxo
