Former Sony / ATV Co-President Danny Strick has joined CMNTY Culture’s entertainment and media portfolio companies as a Senior Advisor.
Los Angeles-based CMNTY Culture was founded by eight-time Grammy-winning songwriter, singer, producer, actor and entrepreneur Philip Lawrence in collaboration with Thomas St. John, founder of the Thomas St. John Group, a sports and entertainment accounting firm Corporate governance.
In his role as Senior Advisor, Strick will support CMNTY Culture in all industries including music recording, music publishing, film / TV and real estate.
He will use his expertise and relationships to lead the A&R team at growing record label CMNTY Culture RCRDS and music publisher CMNTY Culture Publishing while strategizing the overall vision of the company’s future and driving its success.
Lawrence and St. John recruited veteran entertainment attorney Miles Cooley (formerly DLA Piper) as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer and Marlena Kaplan (formerly Blackstone) as Chief Financial Officer.
The record label CMNTY Culture RCRDS is also part of the company portfolio and is run by Lawrence together with President and Co-Founder Malik Rasheed (formerly Epic Records) and Chief Marketing Officer Chief Johnson (formerly PUMA Group).
Before that, Strick worked for Sony / ATV for 16 years, most recently as Co-President of the US company.
Under his leadership, the company signed acts like Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Maluma, Fall Out Boy, A $ AP Rocky, The Chain Smokers, Lil Nas X, and OneRepublic.
After leaving in early 2020, Strick advised private equity on catalog purchases and sales, including Vine Alternative Investments’ acquisition of Calvin Harris, where he was introduced to Thomas St. John.
