LA COLMIANE, France (Reuters) – Primoz Roglic extended his overall lead in the Paris-Nice race by driving to victory on Saturday’s seventh stage, a 119.2 km drive from Le Broc.
The Vuelta a Espana champion took his third stage win in this year’s edition with a late acceleration on the final climb to La Colmiane (16.3 km at 6.3%) to beat Swiss Gino Mader by two seconds.
The German Maximilian Schachmann was third, five seconds behind.
The Slovenian Roglic is now 52 seconds ahead of Schachmann, the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov 1:11 behind in third place.
The eighth and final stage on Sunday is a 93 km drive from Le-plan-du-Var to Levens. After the first course, a drive around Nice, a weekend lockdown was changed in some cities on the Côte d’Azur due to COVID-19.
