Byron Lazine and Nicole White are two Connecticut agents who share their thoughts on the week’s news every Friday in The Real Word, a weekly video column about Inman.
With Zillow’s takeover of ShowingTime, some agents are looking for a new show platform – and Instashowing is getting a lot of attention. The show management solution, which is fairly new to the scene, has seen a spate of inquiries since Zillow announced the news, according to this Inman article.
But what do Byron and Nicole think of this sudden interest in ShowingTime and the frenzy that Zillow’s recent acquisition has caused? Ultimately, Byron said, it comes down to it: the industry can either watch Zillow’s move, talk, and complain, or do something about it.
“[If] You are someone who is able to actually slide a few chips into the middle and make a move. I would suggest that, ”said Byron. “I would suggest competing and the best competitor will win in the end.” A push for innovation and a drive to create products that agents and consumers actually want are key, said Byron.
More This Week: Redfin is planning to acquire RentPath for $ 608 million to drive traffic and lead generation, according to HousingWire. Byron and Nicole looked into Redfin’s plans to target the rental market later this week.
Marketer of the Week
This week’s marketer was about celebrity news – Kim Kardashian and Kayne West’s split, more specifically. A Forbes article looked at the couple’s fortunes, including a number of homes and multi-million dollar art and jewelry.
