Most of the Disneyland Resort has been closed for almost a year, but it is expected to reopen in March with a new ticket event titled “A Touch of Disney”.
About a touch of Disney
What and when
For $ 75, ticket holders get access to most of Disney California Adventure Park, the sibling park of the famous Disneyland that is just steps away (Disneyland is still closed to the public). The event starts on March 18th and should last at least until April 5th, 2021. Tickets will be available from March 4th. Don’t plan Last minute trip In this case, reservations are required.
Given that California’s pandemic control regulations are currently preventing most theme parks from reopening, your admission ticket won’t get you rides.
The effects of COVID-19
California uses a color-coded tier system – determined by the novelty rate of a given county COVID-19 Cases and positivity – this indicates what types of businesses can be opened and when. Large amusement parks like Disneyland cannot reopen until their county is in the yellow area. Orange County, where the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks are located, is still a long way from that level.
So don’t think of this new iteration as a theme park, but more as an outdoor mall.
Unfortunately, you have to pay to access this outdoor mall. Admission to A Touch of Disney allows you to explore most parts of Disney California Adventure Park for shopping and dining. Disney will also have some characters on the go and set up designated photo points.

While the event is taking place at Disney California Adventure, you can order some of the foods Disneyland is famous for, including the Dole Whip (usually served outside Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room) and the Monte Cristo Sandwich (usually served) at the Blue Bayou Restaurant which shares a building with the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction).
You’ll also get unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass photos, which are Disney’s photo service, plus free parking and a $ 25 meal card valid for food and soft drinks purchased at the event.
The event times are from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., which is considerably shorter than the theme park’s usual opening times.
What was Disneyland like before A Touch of Disney?
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Disneyland Resort (not the park itself) has been partially open for shopping and dining since July 2020. Much of this access was granted to the Downtown Disney District, the amusement parks adjacent to the two adjacent outdoor shopping centers.
In November 2020, Disney opened Buena Vista Street, the main entrance to Disney California Adventure, and gave the public the rare opportunity to enter the theme park without a ticket. That ends soon in anticipation of A Touch of Disney. If this event takes place on March 18, you will need the $ 75 ticket to access Buena Vista Street. However, the Downtown Disney District remains open seven days a week without the need for a ticket.
The final result
Before the pandemic, single-day adult ticket prices at a Disneyland and Disney California Adventure park ranged from $ 104 to $ 154, depending on the day you visited.
A Touch of Disney lets you visit for $ 75, and the $ 25 credit offsets part of the ticket price. There will be no rides and parking times will be reduced significantly, so it’s hard to tell if this is a deal. But if you’re looking for a change of scenery from your neighborhood walks, it might be worth walking down the main drag of Radiator Springs, especially if you’ve been desperate after almost a year without a Disney fix.
