The largest MLS in Northern California is acquiring a smaller neighbor

MetroList, based in Sacramento, is expanding its presence to include four districts, and members of the Sutter Yuba Association of Realtors MLS are getting more exposure to listing and selling homes in the area.

The largest multiple listing service in Northern California is growing.

MetroList Services, based in Sacramento, California, with around 21,500 subscribers, acquired the MLS from the Sutter Yuba Association of Realtors in late 2020, expanding four counties. The transaction is part of a multi-year consolidation trend among MLS looking to provide better services and achieve economies of scale for their agents, brokers and appraisers.

SYAOR MLS was founded in 1967 and has approximately 650 subscribers. Once the transition from SYAOR MLS to MetroList is completed in the second quarter of 2021, the former will be closed, although SYAOR’s Yuba City office will become MetroList’s administrative center, where its employees will continue to provide association and MLS-related services to their employees provide members according to MetroList.

“We are excited to expand our geographic market area and bring MLS services to our neighbors in Sutter, Yuba, Butte and Colusa counties,” said Bill Miller, CEO of MetroList, in a statement. “As the largest MLS in Northern California, MetroList offers a robust line of products and value-added benefits to help our subscribers grow and thrive in their real estate business.”

With the acquisition, SYAOR MLS members will have greater commitment to listing and selling properties across Northern California, according to a press release. The deal increases the number of counties MetroList serves to 13 and covers more than 12,000 square miles. MetroList is also part of the NORCAL MLS Alliance, launched last month, which gives subscribers to seven MLS access to thousands of listings in 22 counties with a single login.

“MetroList has a proven track record of delivering the highest quality real estate technology and customer service,” said Liz Powell Skutley, President of SYAOR in 2020, in a statement. “This collaboration gives our SYAOR member agents access to comprehensive tools with which they can work more efficiently and save costs in their business.”

MetroList’s services include access to nationwide property tax records, market trends, mobile app solutions, local administrative service centers, IDX data feeds, quality technical support, year-round training and education, publicly accessible websites metrolistpro.com and metrolistmls.com as well as the Real Safe Agent crime prevention system, the MLS said.

Both MLS use Rapattoni’s MLS platform, and a MetroList spokesman emailed Inman that around 95 SYAOR MLS members are already MetroList subscribers. SYAOR MLS has an average of 500 listings per month and all historical listing data was supplied with the acquisition.
